Free lunch time tour of Out of Sight with Nanaimo Art Gallery
Curator Jesse Birch: Thursday, October 27 at noon.
Out of Sight is a touring exhibition from the Vancouver Art Gallery that features a selection of recently-acquired photographs by Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904) and Harold Edgerton (1903-1990), two giants in the history of photography. Both artists are celebrated for their revolutionary works that expand our understanding of time and motion and extend the capacity of human perception by making time stand still.

Vancouver Art Gallery in Nanaimo

Tuesday, October 18, 4 pm with reception to follow

Lobby of The Port Theatre, 125 Front Street, Nanaimo
The Vancouver Art Gallery will present an upcoming community reception in Nanaimo on Tuesday, October 18 at The Port Theatre in partnership with the Nanaimo Art Gallery.
Dignitaries, stakeholders, members of the Nanaimo arts community and the general public will hear from Vancouver Art Gallery’s trustee Lisa Turner, Assistant Curator Stephanie Rebick and award-winning artist and Emily Carr professor Landon Mackenzie on the Gallery’s exhibitions, its plan for a new building in downtown Vancouver, how the future Vancouver Art Gallery will provide new opportunities for BC artists and increased capacity for exhibitions that can be shared with partner institutions throughout British Columbia.
The Vancouver Art Gallery has long formed collaborative relationships with arts and culture organizations in BC. The Gallery’s Across the Province program, launched in 2006 at the Two River Gallery in Prince George, has toured 8 exhibitions with more than 30 presentations at 7 venues across BC, free of charge to the hosting institutions. As part of the Across the Province program, the Nanaimo Art Gallery is currently hosting Out of Sight, a touring exhibition that showcases works by celebrated artists Eadweard Muybridge (1830-1904) and Harold Edgerton (1903-1990) from the Vancouver Art Gallery’s collection.
